Seniors Active Living Fair Brings Community Together
On July 25, Carefirst’s Seniors Active Living Fair was a wonderful opportunity for older adults to connect, learn, and celebrate active and healthy aging with the community.
Supported by a grant from the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO), the Fair welcomed 560 visitors and brought together 16 exhibitors and community partners, offering a wide range of health, wellness, and community resources in one convenient location. Partners included the Seniors Safety Line, Distress Centre, St. John Ambulance, People Hearing Clinic, CICS, Chartwell, Amity Health, OACAO, and a variety of Carefirst programs and services.
Participants had the opportunity to attend six health and wellness talks and enjoy five engaging demonstrations led by Carefirst’s Seniors Active Living Centre instructors. The demonstrations showcased the enthusiasm, energy, and physical fitness of our seniors and encouraged others to stay active and involved.

The Fair was also a strong example of community and volunteer collaboration. Thirty-eight volunteers, including Carefirst volunteers and the St. John Ambulance Cadet team, helped make the event welcoming and successful. More than 1,500 resources, tip sheets, and informational materials were shared with visitors.
Beyond the information and activities, the Fair provided a welcoming space for older adults to gather, socialize, meet others, and discover services and supports available in their community.
A heartfelt thank you to all our exhibitors, community partners, volunteers, instructors, Wellness Club members, and participants for making the Seniors Active Living Fair such a meaningful and successful community event.
