Supporting Our Community:

Carefirst’s Short-term Residential Care Programs

We are pleased to share an update on our short-term residential care programs, designed to provide essential support for seniors and caregivers across our community.

Transitional Care Centre (TCC) – 10 years of operation since 2015

Located at 300 Silver Star Boulevard in Scarborough, the TCC is a privately funded, 24-bed facility dedicated to short-term recovery and respite. The centre serves individuals recuperating from surgery, hospitalization or medical conditions, seniors awaiting long-term care placement, and caregivers in need of a temporary break.

Our multidisciplinary team, including nurses, personal support workers, social workers, physiotherapists, dietitians, and visiting physicians delivers compassionate, person-centered care in a safe and accessible environment. Our primary goal is to promote functional improvement and stability through clinical services tailored to each client’s unique care needs.

Overnight Stay Program (OSP) – continued expansion since 2019

Thanks to funding from Ontario Health, we are excited to announce the continued expansion of our Overnight Stay Program. Since February, we have increased our capacity to better serve the community across three locations:

  • Markham: 4310 Highway 7 East
  • Stouffville: 5576 Main Street
  • Scarborough: 300 Silver Star Boulevard

With 13 beds now available across these sites, the OSP offers an affordable, home-like environment for seniors, particularly those living with dementia or cognitive impairment. This program provides caregivers a vital opportunity to recharge while their loved ones receive care from certified personal support workers. Residents enjoy nutritious meals, group exercises, and social activities designed to foster well-being and connection.
