About Us

Women’s Health

Access to healthcare is a difficult problem for residents across Ontario, and the lack of access to care is felt most often by vulnerable populations, especially women.

The Women’s Health Program at Carefirst makes sure no one is left behind. Our program is bolstered with professionals trained to deliver comfortable and informed care that targets women in the community. We are especially focused on the provision of low barrier and culturally safe, relevant and specific healthcare that remains holistic in its scope. Our partners in community engagement and wrap-around care ensure a unified front when it comes to women’s health.

Our program uses a wide array of connections of partners to address the issues of health accessibility based on factors including:

  • Race
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Religion
  • Culture
  • Language
  • Age
  • Disability

By keeping in mind the structural inequalities that might prevent healthcare access, we can target women in need of our services the most.

Our goal is to increase access to preventative and primary women’s healthcare across the Southeast Markham Region. By working with local community organizations, we ensure that our strategies prioritize equity-based population health and strengthen the established partnership network that continues to give so many women in need access to a massive range of healthcare options.

Through our Mobile Pap Smear Clinic, Education Workshops and Health Promotion Initiatives we are committed to give women the tools they need to take control of their health and wellness.
