Celebrating Inclusivity at Carefirst: The Success Stories of Michael and Iman.
Introducing Michael and Iman, Goodness Gift associates who have transitioned to new roles as Team Assistants at the Adult Day Centres of Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association. Goodness Gift empowers individuals on the autism spectrum by providing meaningful employment opportunities that highlight their unique talents and foster essential skill development.
Michael joined Goodness Gift as an associate where he developed communication, focus and cleaning skills. Michael has become instrumental in his new role at Carefist as a Team Assistant. In his role, Michael supports his co-workers by lending a helping hand wherever needed, a responsibility that aligns perfectly with his passion for assisting others. Michael expressed that “this new opportunity means that I can learn new skills and further develop the ones I already have”. His story of perseverance and growth is inspiring others who are also on the autism spectrum.
Iman joined Goodness Gift in 2021 and returned in 2024 to continue developing her skills. Her organizational talents and experience as an Assistant Associate at Goodness Gift has helped her to excel in her new role as a Team Assistant at Carefirst. She assists in setting up activities, sanitizing spaces, and engaging with seniors through games and social interactions. Transitioning to Carefirst has boosted her confidence and professionalism, as she expresses “I feel confident and professional by adhering to the dress code at Carefirst and learning new skills every day”.
Katherine Ho, Program Director of Carefirst Woburn Community Hub welcomes Michael and Iman’s contributions, noting their diligence and eagerness to learn. Their roles enrich the lives of seniors, ensuring safety and engagement during activities. “I’m glad they have become part of our Carefirst caring team,” Katherine shares. Michael and Iman’s journeys from Goodness Gift to Carefirst are a testament to the transformative power of inclusive employment and the positive impact it can have on individuals and communities.
